Welcome to the World of Insects Blogging
In developing countries like Sierra Leone, most research, including theses/dissertations, is fully funded by students and their lecturers. Limited resources on the researchers’ side and within their institutions to support studies that could yield publishable results in quality journals leave 90% of theses/dissertations in hard copies at the library. Even those with promising results find it financially challenging to publish their work. This has resulted in a significant research gap, hindering academic growth, sound policymaking, and development initiatives.
At EntoTech Innovations, we believe that the results from studies leading to the conferral of certificates, diplomas, and degrees may contain valuable information that could inform future studies, policies, and development efforts. Therefore, this blog is designed to assist lecturers, their students, and other researchers in Sierra Leone and Sub-Saharan Africa in publishing their research briefs, addressing questions, and sharing expert opinions on related matters.

Scope/Vision
Our research is based on promoting pollinator health and utilising insects as biological control agents, protein sources, and fertilisers. Therefore, we are interested in articles, podcasts, and videos related to pest arthropods, including insect vector management, agroecology, biodiversity conservation, ecotoxicology, chemical ecology, biotremology, pollinator health, agroforestry, integrated soil management, etc. We can also use this platform to share projects and study opportunities in related fields with our audience.
Our priority
We prioritise information regarding alerts on the arrival and identification of new pests and natural enemies, resistance to pesticides, successful application of new management practices, and any related topics that interest the audience.
Ideas for permanent links: EntoTech will link to resources on library web pages of organisations and individuals with similar visions.
Publication Guide
This blog will feature two content sources: one from EntoTech Innovation and the other from expert opinions and research briefs that will undergo peer review. Regardless of the source, we will ensure at least one weekly publication.
Peer Review: Authors should send their content to our peer-review team through info@entotechinnovations.org, which will be reviewed in one-week intervals and published, resent for correction, or denied.
The peer reviewers: EntoTech will seek the voluntary service of at least three senior academics with strong research backgrounds to serve as reviewers.
Writing style
We encourage a short headline and a full post with a maximum word count of 2000 words. Citation is not compulsory, but we welcome it if necessary to reference and point to sources, similar to regular communication within scholarly environments. Photos, podcasts, and videos should be of higher quality.
